Frank Adams is a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He is an AV-rated attorney, and is Board Certified in Wills, Trusts and Estates. Frank practices primarily in sophisticated estate planning and administration, including wills; revocable and irrevocable trusts; probate; estate, gift and generation-skipping taxation; probate litigation; planning for charitable contributions and charitable foundations; asset protection planning; and planning for distributions from IRAs and other qualified retirement plans.

His experience also includes planning for closely held businesses, including formation, operation and planning for the dissolution or sale of all types of business entities. In business planning, Frank also assists families in succession of ownership and control matters and the drafting and implementation of buy/sell agreements. Frank also counsels individuals concerning prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.

Representative Experience
  • Primary responsibility for all aspects of the administration of decedents' estates, including preparation of Federal tax returns and the audit of those returns by the Internal Revenue Service. Some of those estates have been as great as $75 million and owned assets as diverse as a controlling interest in a publicly traded company, a stable of thoroughbred race horses, and the copyright interests of a major American playwright.
  • Preparation and implementation of estate plans for individuals and families with both U.S. and foreign situs assets. Those plans involve planning for minimizing income, estate, gift and generations-skipping tax. The assets owned by those individuals and families encompass almost every type of asset, and have ranged in value to more than $1 billion.
  • Charitable planning for families, obtaining tax-exempt status for the entities established and representation of the resulting private or public charities. Significant experience in obtaining tax-exempt status for religious and educational institutions and foundations in support of hospitals, and the subsequent representation of those entities.
  • Representation of beneficiaries in will contests, construction proceedings, and actions to amend, reform or terminate trusts or replace trustees.
  • Significant experience in representing corporations and their shareholders in business succession and continuation planning, often involving complex issues of valuation.
