Mathai Jacob is a member of the Katz Barron Litigation Department. His practice includes a broad range of litigation matters in State and Federal Court and alternative dispute resolution forums. His experience includes complex commercial litigation and other civil matters including, but not limited to, the areas of real estate, construction, securities, residential and commercial landlord/tenant, business entities, professional malpractice and contract disputes. Matt represents both individual and institutional clients in litigation throughout the State of Florida.

Representative Experience
- Prosecuted claims for defective construction, inspection and design on behalf of a condominium association of a high-end, waterfront condominium association against the developer, general contractor, subcontractors, threshold inspector and design professionals.
- Prosecuted claims for construction delay, disruption, acceleration, nonpayment and enforcement of a construction lien on behalf of leading contractors against the owner of a mammoth development consisting of a high-end oceanfront hotel, convention center, retail village and country club.
- Prosecuted claims for fraudulent practices on behalf of the court-appointed Receiver of a defunct national insurance company against its officers and directors.
- Represented an internationally-recognized shopping center against a neighboring property owner in a dispute over parking rights affected by a course of conduct of 50+ years. A summary judgment was obtained, which was affirmed on appeal. See Church by the Sea, Inc. v. Bal Harbour Shops, Ltd., 841 So. 2d 608 (Fla. 3rd DCA 2003).
- Represented a statewide accounting firm in a dispute with its landlord concerning commercial leasehold rights and obligations.
- Represented a prominent real estate developer in a dispute with his business partner concerning their respective partnership interests in the proceeds generated from a major residential and commercial development.
- Represented a regional solid waste collection and disposal company against a municipality in a dispute concerning franchise rights.
- Defended prominent securities brokers against claims for breach of non-competition agreements and misappropriation of trade secrets brought by their former employers.
- Defended a publicly traded real estate investment trust against multiple claims for fraudulent and unfair leasing practices brought by several residential tenants of one of its managed apartment properties.
- Defended owners and managers of apartment complexes against mold and mildew claims brought by tenants.
- Defended private bank in claim brought by customers for management of their investment portfolios.
